my dvd drive is not working on my macbook pro >>>







First, my MacBook is a little more than a year old and is no longer covered under warranty, so I would like to try any possible fixes (like cleaning the drive) before having to buy a new drive.
When i insert some discs into my optical drive, they don't show up in finder, and won't play in DVD player. i looked in my disc utilities, and it sees the dvd there.

Level is not usually a requirement for playing DVD's in a Macbook Pro so your fix may only be hiding the real problem, whatever that may be. Optical drives typically hold the disk before spinning
My desktop computer's DVD drive is working fine while my MacBook Pro's is not. An early 2008 15" MacBook Pro's optical drive costs well over $149 USD. How am I going to swap (or use) the DVD drive
Have a look at my other reply, to the lady in Japan. My MacBook Pro is is a 2007 model with the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857E DVD drive. I have been having a few problems making a copy of my OSX disc
